Playtech is the worlds largest online gambling software company and has a rock solid reputation. The games have huge variety, are of excellent quality and can be found at the most credible casinos (such as Bet365 and Paddy Power). These guys are a major competitor to Microgaming, who some say, at this moment are slightly more innovative. All in all, Playtech, as a software provider really does kick butt and is Ben’s favourite software to play on.
Playtech has been around since the year of 1999 and it has quickly established itself as one of the leading developers of gaming software, winning numerous awards and becoming the world’s largest publicly-traded supplier of gaming software. Unlike most companies in this particular industry, Playtech has quite a few branches and it is also doing quite a lot when it comes to sports betting, live & TV gaming, and poker.
That last part is actually very important in terms of the global picture, as Playtech’s main selling point is that it can provide a complete package of services. And that is not all by any means, as it can actually offer that across more than one platform, allowing customers of its clients to access their accounts in a number of ways without any additional hassles.
Playtech’s headquarters are based in Isle of Man, but the company has more than 1200 full-time employees in seven main development centres, with the biggest ones being located in Estonia and Israel.
The history of the company includes quite a few highlights and milestones, so let’s mention at least some of those in order to show how impressive the company has been so far. In 2003, Playtech launched its live casino, becoming one of the first gaming developers to do so, following that up with the launch of its very own online poker network, which is known as iPoker. In 2006, its gaming software was approved by the Alderney Gaming Control Commission, marking yet another important step in making the company’s credentials even better. And, to top things off, Playtech won the prestigious International Company of the Year award during the 2010 AIM Awards.
In recent years, Playtech had to adapt its products and services to new regulations and legislations in many countries, including Spain, Italy, and France, but it seems that it has managed to handle the situation very well and that it can now concentrate on taking its services even further.
At the time of writing, some of the world’s most successful gaming companies, including Betfair, Bet365, and Paddy Power, were using its services, which should serve as a good proof of its current reputation.
But what about the actual games? Are they as good as the company’s credentials? Well, Playtech’s games have always been very exciting, but it seems that, contrary to its motto and general philosophy of being at the cutting-edge at all times, the company has become a bit too reliant on just a few of its product lines. For example, there has been a steady influx of new Marvel-themed games and, in all fairness, things are starting to become a bit too boring. Hopefully, Playtech will be able to come back strongly and hit back with a few innovations as soon as possible. Otherwise, it might easily start to lose its position on the gaming market and especially on the market around video slot games, which is becoming incredibly competitive these days with quite a few companies trying to capture the number one spot in that particular niche.
