Positives

Strong track record in casino software. Respectable and trusted software.

Negatives

Have not kept up with the innovation of the competitors.

Bottom Line

Established in 1996, Cryptologic stepped on to the scene in style. They have long powered games that can be found on some of the biggest casino brands out there. Unfortunately other software firms have caught up with them and are outpacing them in terms of graphics and game-play, but only slightly. Still one heavily respected and credible provider of slick software.

Cryptologic, which was founded in 1995, is one of the most respectable firms in the online gaming industry and it is not hard to see why. Apart from the actual casino games, it also offers solutions for e-cash management, marketing support, and customer care, making it the ideal partner for all companies that are looking for somebody that could help them in more than one area.

The headquarters of the company can be found in the capital city of Ireland and the firm currently employs hundreds of employees, making it one of the largest players on the market. Launching its first licensee, InterCasino, in 1996, it soon rose through the ranks and made quite an impact on the world of online gaming. You might also recognize the name WagerLogic and the similarity between the two names is indeed not accidental, as WagerLogic is a subsidiary company of Cryptologic.

These days, success is very dependent on innovation and Cryptologic is indeed pitching that as the main selling point when it comes to its communication with investors (the company is offering its stocks on some of the world’s biggest stock exchanges). However, if the company’s most recent games are anything to go by, Cryptologic still has a long way to go in that respect, so it will be interesting to see what the future will bring and whether the company will be able to step up to the plate or not.

Cryptologic has received numerous awards throughout the years and it needs to be said that its trophy cabinet does indeed include some of the most prestigious ones. For example, it received the Gambling Online Magazine’s Best Casino Software award on four occasions. Meanwhile, it has also received a few awards from prestigious sites like Allslotsonline.com or Casinomeister.com back in the years of 2007 and 2008.

Cryptologic works very closely with some of the biggest names in the industry and the list of its clients includes online casino operators like PartyGaming, Gala Coral, or 888.com. And you might have already seen some of its games over at Betfair Casino as well, as the betting exchange giant is one of Cryptologic’s clients as well.

The company has produced plenty of games over the years, but there is one thing that virtually all of them have in common – their top-notch quality. Of course, some of the games might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but every single player will be able to find something interesting in the company’s portfolio. Those who like branded games will surely enjoy video slots like Captain America or Call of Duty 4, while those who would like to enjoy some innovative features will certainly like video slots like Cash and Clovers.

However, it unfortunately needs to be said that, at the moment, Cryptologic is set firmly in the second tier of online casino games developers. It would be lovely to see it coming to the front once again somewhere in the future, but, as it stands, it cannot really compete with the fancy graphics and overall glamour that we can see in many of the games from companies like Net Entertainment, Playtech, and Microgaming.
