Positives

Worth checking out if you want to take advantage of their bonuses or want to play their unique software, particularly if you like progressive jackpots.

Negatives

Their customer service falls short of the industry best by a large margin, their own software is neither sufficiently good or different from the best in the industry to justify your attention. Quite simply for 99% of gamblers there are far better options out there.

Bottom Line

One of the biggest online casinos with their own Random Logic software they offer decent progressive jackpots but their customer service and gaming experience is far short of the best online casinos have to offer.

888.com are one of the largest and most popular online gambling platforms.  Heavily marketed and probably one of the first online casinos many people will have heard of and try out through their high profile both on and off line.  They are one of the few online casinos to offer their own software called Random Logic although they do this in addition with offering software from other casino software firms of which Cryptologic is the one I noticed most.  As such a large company you can gamble here with reasonable levels of trust and security.  You can also access Poker and Sports betting through the 888.com brand.  They are a publicly traded company who is financially stable and there should be no worries that they will not be able to pay any big wins you are fortunate enough to secure.

One of the biggest advantages of being a large casino is that you are able to offer more in the areas of progressive jackpots than other casinos are able to offer and this is one of their greatest strengths.  If you enjoy progressive jackpots with frequent payouts then they offer some good options that you will not find elsewhere.

The casino is available in download and no-download versions although there is much more choice available if you download the casino.  Unfortunately, just like Party Casino the in-house casino software – whilst perfectly decent – is not particularly worth checking out aside for Progressive Jackpot fans. There are quite simply better casino software platforms such as NetEnt, RNG, Playtech and Microgaming.  Whilst 888.com is worth checking out for their own unique games you are unlikely to stay too long at the site because of them.  There are many smaller software firms that are able to stand out from the Microgamings of this world through offering something genuinely different from what you will find at the best software platforms but the Random Logic software does not offer anything particularly new or interesting to the experienced player.

They do offer an interesting sign up bonus in which you get to play four games and can potentially win up to £20 which if you meet the wager requirements you can withdraw without making a deposit.  This is backed up by a range of deposit and on-going bonuses that the site offers.  Unfortunately whilst their bonuses are quite good once you get round the complexity of the bonus terms they are not as good as they first appear and there are better online bonuses out there with much simpler and easy to follow terms.  Their no deposit bonus is still a lot of fun and worth a go but it is not as good as they make it out to be.  888.com has a good reputation for offering bonuses regularly to their established players.

The online casino industry is very competitive and 888.com have chosen to respond to this challenge by heavy and aggressive marketing.  Other online casinos have chosen to differentiate themselves with first rate customer service, putting the player first, offering innovative and highly entertaining games, all of which leave 888.com behind in terms of ideal casinos to choose.  All of my favourite casinos offer live support as well as excellent support if you choose to call or email them.  With 888.com you will probably need to email them and they do not have a good reputation for quickly or helpfully dealing with issues that you may have.  Compared with many businesses their service is ok but compared to market leaders in online gambling they just are not good enough.  There are also instances in which they have confiscated player funds and have not been very open to mediation from sites such as Casinomeister when players have problems with them.  If you have any problems then it is worth mentioning that they are accredited with eCOGRA so you can bring issues to them if you have any problems with 888.com but it is also worth highlighting that there are many players online who have put in complaints about their treatment from 888.com.

They have taken action to market themselves in more responsible ways than they have done in the past and this is positive but they are still happy to bombard the internet with gambling marketing whether the audience will be interested or not and other casinos have long established themselves as responsible and ethical in this regard.

The other major criticism of 888.com is that their minimum bet is a lot higher than for many other casinos and in most of their slots you will struggle to wager less than 1.25 a spin.  You can make easily 20+ spins a minute unless you hit a special feature then you will not get a lot of gambling for your money unless you get lucky quickly or are a high roller.  Aside from their own software you can go to different casinos and not have to work with such high minimum bets when playing online.

Overall 888.com is a reasonable casino with adequate customer service and offers players decent bonuses and a reasonable player experience.  Many casinos offer higher quality customer service and 888.com does not have a great reputation for their treatment of customers or resolving issues that arise in a fair manner.  If you want to take advantage of their bonuses or play their unique games they are maybe worth a try but there are many casinos you should be sampling before you check them out.
