The history of Microgaming dates back to 1994 and it needs to be said that the company has really gone through a lot since that year. At the moment, it belongs to the top tier of online casino games developers – and the fact that it was recently awarded the “Best Casino Software“ award at the Gambling Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards is a clear proof of that.

The company, which is based on Isle of Man, is also involved in online poker, but its main focus lies in online casino gaming. Right now, it is trying to get its products out onto the regulated markets and it seems that its venture has been very successful so far, as the official website states that its products can be offered in countries like Italy, Denmark, Belgium, and Spain.

There can be no doubts about the company’s reputation – after all, almost every single online player has visited at least some of its clients. Just to give you an idea – the list of Microgaming’s clients includes online titans like Ladbrokes, 32Red, and Royal Vegas. Yes, that is right – Microgaming’s products, including its live casino and mobile casino, are quite famous on the online gaming scene.

Since Microgaming has such a long history, it would certainly be a good idea to mention some of the highlights. In 1996, the real online adventure started for Microgaming, as that was the year when it took its very first online casino operator live. Just two years later, the internet’s first wide-area progressive jackpot slot game, called Cash Splash, was launched by the firm, bringing it to the front of the industry. In 2002, Microgaming established the world record for the largest ever online jackpot win (€1.5 million) thanks to its Major Millions slot game, which it later surpassed once again in 2009 with a €6.37 million payout that was recorded in the Mega Moolah slot game. And, to put things into perspective, the year of 2010 was the year when the number of Microgaming’s unique games became higher than 500.

Microgaming has always been one of the front-runners in terms of innovative casino games and, thankfully, it seems that the trend is not going to change anytime soon. For example, Microgaming is leading the way when it comes to innovating the paylines systems with its exciting “243 Ways to Win“ feature, which allows players to get payouts on even more paylines than ever before. At the moment, that feature can be found in the popular The Dark Knight and Thunderstruck II video slots. At the end of 2012, Microgaming has also decided to give players a completely new style of gameplay with its Max Damage and the Alien Attack game, which allows players to take control of a spaceship and to collect coins by shooting alien spacecraft down. Such innovations are certainly a nice breath of fresh air on the online casino gaming scene that makes players truly appreciate the enormous value that the company brings to the market.
